The Lord of Compassion
Mark 1:41-43
And Jesus, moved with compassion, put out His hand and touched him,
and said to him, "I am willing; be cleansed." 42 As soon
as He had spoken, immediately the leprosy left him, and he was cleansed.
The Lord has such love and compassion! He is so moved by our desperate
hearts. When we pursue Him He is so willing to bring healing.
His heart is to heal. He loves the heart that is doing everything
it knows to do to get close to Him. When we press into Him He
is there to meet us. He wraps His arms of love around us. Just
the embrace of His arms releases so much healing within us. There
are wounds in us that we don’t even know about and when
He comes to us it is with healing in His wings.
If you wonder if Jesus cares, you can know that He does. Just
as He said to the leper, “I am willing . . .” So you
can know that He is willing to bring that same healing power to
you. He is so moved with the feelings of our weaknesses. He loves
to hear us say that we can do nothing apart from Him. It is the
cry of dependency that draws the heart of God to us. It is like
a magnet because it is the very opposite of the self-sufficient
life. Satan fell because of his pride, rebellion and independent
spirit. He chose to think that he could do better than God and
all without Him. So when the Lord hears our cry of dependency
it is all He is looking for.
This is the center of our faith when we choose Him as the source
of all things that concern us. He is our help, our strength and
our everything. Apart from Him we are destined to fail. Pride
comes before a fall. The dependent cry is the humble cry. The
humble cry precedes healing. It is the open door that the Lord
walks through to touch us. Allow that cry to resound in your heart
today.
