Passionate Pursuit

The Word of God is powerful and separates the soul from the spirit. In other words it distinguishes and makes a difference between the two. And there is a difference! Soul is self. The spirit of man is created in true righteousness after the image of God. (Eph. 4:24) The spirit is the seat of revelation. The spirit is the heart and core of where worship begins and ends. (John 4:24) The spirit is the choice of God. He is searching for those who will worship Him from this most holy place that He has breathed within those who have been born of the spirit. This is also why praying in the spirit is so essential. When we pray in the spirit we are choosing to engage that God-born part of us that is a direct-connect to His heart. Who knows the things of God except the Spirit of God? Who know the things of man except the spirit within man? (I Cor. 2:11)

Proverbs 20:27
The spirit of man is the lamp of the Lord, Searching all his innermost parts.

It is the spirit of man that has the ability and is created to commune with the Father. This is the place of deep waters. The Lord wants us to drink deeply and deeper continually. This is where Mary Magdalene found herself. She gave everything up and was willing to lose it all for the Lord. She anointed Jesus’ feet with her hair counting her reputation loss. She was the one at the tomb. She was also the one that was first to see Jesus after His resurrection. The Lord loved Mary in a very powerful way. Because of her life so consecrated to Him she was at the top of His list. The Lord does have a list. He loves us all. But not all find Him and know Him the same. Some of the disciples were closer to Him than others. But He has promised that those who hunger and thirst for righteousness shall be filled. (Matt. 5:6) Those who seek will find. So there are different levels of seeking, different levels of hunger, different levels of thirst. We should never compare our level of desire with anyone else. But we should pursue God with all that is in us. Do all that we know to do to be closer to Him.

I John 2:15
Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.

Those who love Egypt (the world) are always trying to find ways to get away with things, maybe God won’t mind. These are those that the cares of this life eventually choke out His words. (Mark 4:19) But Mary loved the words of Jesus. She sat at Jesus feet. She was and is one the holy ones that loved to be at His feet. Those who love Him are seeking to see how close they can get to Him. They love to hang out and hear His words. They are ready and willing to be taught. They also just love to be in His Presence even if nothing is said. They ask the question, “What things can they do to get closer to the Lord?” This is the heart that God is after.
